In Stavropol, the ex-head of the criminal investigation department was sentenced to six years for theft

In the Stavropol Territory, the former head of the criminal investigation department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia "Predgorny" was sentenced to six years in prison for organizing thefts worth 15 million rubles. This was announced on March 17 by the press service of the Investigative Department (SU) of the Investigative Committee of Russia for the region in its Telegram channel.

According to investigators, from 2020 to 2022, the ex-policeman created an organized group to steal jewelry, money and other things. There were three other people in it, including a close friend of the convict.

The attackers carefully prepared for crimes: they used SIM cards for third parties, cars without license plates, hacking tools and gloves. The leader of the group found potential targets and informed the accomplices about the absence of the owners.

"As a result of the criminal actions of the defendants, citizens suffered damage in the amount of more than 15 million rubles," the Investigative Committee said in a statement.

The former policeman was sentenced to six years in a penal colony. He also has to pay a fine of 250 thousand rubles. In addition, the defendant was banned from holding positions in the civil service for 2.5 years.

Three accomplices received 3.5 to 5 years in prison and fines. The property of the convicts was seized.

Earlier that day, a source from Izvestia reported on the detention of Yevgeny Filippov, Minister of Health of the Krasnodar Territory. He is suspected of fraud on an especially large scale using his official position (Part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). During his tenure as minister, he and related persons have become owners of real estate, the market price of which can exceed 1 billion rubles.
