Anna Guseva, a psychologist and senior lecturer at the Department of Psychology at Synergy University, explained why some children become aggressors and others victims of bullying.

Studies show that children with high sensitivity are more likely to become victims of bullying: they react more strongly to stress and do not fight back, which is why aggressors perceive them as an "easy target."

In conversation with the agency RuNews24.Ru On Tuesday, March 17, she noted that genetics is not a verdict: even if there is a predisposition, a child does not necessarily become a victim or an aggressor if he receives support, learns to defend himself and develops self-confidence. According to her, aggressors often have reduced empathy and worse impulse control, but this does not determine their behavior — much depends on upbringing.

The expert emphasized that the environment plays a key role, notes 360.ru . With a respectful and supportive environment, a child with a predisposition to aggression will not become a bully. At the same time, a toxic atmosphere, violence and neglect can increase negative manifestations. Similarly, a sensitive child with support will not become a victim, but will be able to realize their strengths.

Guseva added that both victims and aggressors often have traumatic experiences: some direct it inward, others outward. Without elaboration, this can affect behavior in adulthood.

In her opinion, bullying is not a matter of strength or weakness, but the result of a system in which adults do not interfere or stop violence. At the same time, the experience of bullying does not determine a person's fate — with awareness and self-improvement, the life scenario can be changed.

In February, Svetlana Bessarab, a member of the State Duma Committee on Labor, said that it was necessary to combat bullying in schools with the help of psychologists and "cleaning up" the Internet space. According to her, it is important that children are not afraid to go to a psychologist, do not consider it something funny and scary, writes NSN. She noted that it is also necessary to build trust in families so that children can tell their parents about problems, RT clarifies. The expert added that at the federal level, Roskomnadzor's work on monitoring social networks and removing content that poses a threat to minors plays a key role.

On February 9, Lilia Shuvalova, a psychologist and lecturer at the Department of Sports Management at the Faculty of Sports at Synergy University, said that children rarely talk about bullying, but problems with sleep, appetite, appearance and unwillingness to go to school can be signals. Ignoring bullying by adults can seriously affect the fate of a child and lead to tragic consequences.

On February 5, psychologist Rodion Chepalov described the signs by which a bully child can be identified. According to him, this may be indicated by a mocking tone when it comes to other children. There may be depreciation on his part. He can also talk about who is cooler, who is a loser, who cannot be respected. In some cases, parents perceive such conversations as "teenage cynicism" or jokes. However, such statements are an important marker, according to RIAMO.
