Senator Narusova urged to protect the Alexander Column from rock concerts
Senator Lyudmila Narusova asked to consider numerous complaints about noise in the area of the Palace Square in St. Petersburg, where rock concerts or motorcycle races of bikers are held. During a meeting of the Federation Council on March 17, she pointed out the problem to the future prosecutor of the Northern Capital, Andrei Gurishev.
"In the center of St. Petersburg, on Palace Square, near the Hermitage, where the unique architectural structure Alexander Column stands <...> rock festivals, races, bikers are constantly held. So many decibels creates a huge load," she said during the discussion.
The senator noted that the column stands on the square "by its own gravity, without a foundation." Therefore, it is safer to hold public events in parks and green areas in the city, the newspaper writes.Ru». Gurishev promised to pay attention to the problem.
In the fall of 2025, it was reported that the authorities of the Leningrad Region are planning to introduce new subsidies for investors who invest in the restoration of architectural monuments. We are talking about compensation for the costs of connecting to utility networks, which is one of the most "expensive" items in the estimates of restoration projects.
