In the United States, the head of the counterterrorism center in the office of the Director of National Intelligence, Joe Kent, submitted his resignation due to disagreement with the military operation against Iran, he outlined the reasons on March 17 in a statement addressed to President Donald Trump.

"I cannot support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no immediate threat to our country, and it is clear that we started this war under pressure from Israel and its influential lobby in the United States," he wrote on his page on the social network X (ex. Twitter).

Kent noted that the US leadership was the victim of a widespread disinformation campaign aimed at pushing Washington against Tehran and provoking an unnecessary conflict. Kent also called for an urgent change in the current political course in the country, otherwise the United States will face decline and chaos, he said.

NBC News reported on March 16 that the military from Trump's entourage offered him several options for ending the conflict with Iran in case the American president wanted to stop the operation. Some sources said that even the timing of the conflict is currently uncertain.

Former US National Security Adviser John Bolton said on March 10 that if the US president fails in a military operation against Iran, he will blame Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu for this. At the same time, the Reuters news agency indicated that according to American intelligence, the government in Iran will not change in the near future, and the current political regime is not on the verge of collapse.
