Russians who are forced to stay in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the conflict in the Middle East are mostly sympathetic to the problems with hotel accommodation, but some openly express their dissatisfaction. This was announced on March 17 by the Consul General of the Russian Federation in Dubai Maxim Vladimirov.

The diplomat told in an interview with kp.ru that some compatriots complain about the "spartan conditions" that they were offered at the three-star Klopovniki. They had to move from five-star hotels to lower-category housing, while temporary accommodation there was provided free of charge in an emergency situation.

There were also Russian citizens who demanded to extend their stay in five-star hotels with full service, including a buffet with black caviar. Tourists expressed the opinion that such services should have been provided to them automatically.

Vladimirov expressed regret that such a category of people occupied communication lines with their appeals, which were important for those who actually found themselves in a difficult situation.

Maya Lomidze, Executive Director of the Association of Tour Operators of Russia (ATOR), reported on March 11 that more than 15 hotels in Dubai were blacklisted for evicting Russian tourists and significantly increasing prices for accommodation. It was noted that all cases have been brought to the attention of the Dubai authorities.

Also on March 5, ATOR sent the Dubai tourism authorities a list of hotels that evicted Russian tourists or refused to check them in during the crisis. It was clarified that the situation with the accommodation and departure of tourists was under control.
