- The media reported on the desire of the Persian Gulf countries to neutralize Iran by the hands of the United States
Many Gulf countries are asking the United States not to leave Iran as the dominant force in the region, even though they took a peacemaking position at the beginning of the conflict. This was reported on March 17 by the Reuters news agency, citing sources close to the governments of such countries.
"There is a widespread opinion in the Persian Gulf countries that Iran has crossed all red lines in relations with all countries in the region," the agency quoted Abdulaziz Sager, chairman of the Saudi—based Persian Gulf Research Center, as saying.
Sager added that at the beginning of the conflict, most countries called for an early transition to a diplomatic solution, but after Iran's multiple attacks, countries in the region feared that in the event of instability in the region, Iran could again block the Strait of Hormuz, which is the most important artery for the Gulf states.
On March 15, US President Donald Trump appealed to countries dependent on oil supplied through the Strait of Hormuz, blocked by Iran, to ensure the safety of this transport route. He then threatened NATO with a "bad future" if it refused to help unblock the water area.
Retired American military analyst, Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen, on March 13, commenting on what was happening, said that the Strait of Hormuz could be under Iranian control for several months. He suggested that Washington, which wants to prevent this, will have to take drastic measures.
