The debt of blogger Valeria Chekalina, known as Lercek, to the Federal Tax Service (FTS) has been reimbursed and is currently completely absent. This was stated to Izvestia on March 17 by a representative of the accused in the Moscow Arbitration Court.

"The debt has been fully repaid at the moment," she said.

According to her, the defense assumes that Chekalina's bankruptcy case will be terminated after the tax authority verifies this information.

Maxim Blinov, Lercek's lawyer, told Izvestia on March 11 that the blogger, who was placed under house arrest and gave birth to her son on February 26, could be released from punishment due to her fourth-degree cancer. Some time later, on March 16, the defendant's defense asked to suspend the case of illegal withdrawal of funds abroad due to her condition, which was supported by the prosecutor's office. It was noted that due to cancer, the blogger began to have vision problems. On the same day, Chekalina was released from house arrest and allowed to visit the websites of medical institutions.
