Svetlana Zakharova, People's Artist of the Russian Federation, Prima ballerina of the Bolshoi Theater, told Izvestia on March 17 that the organizers of her performances in Rome faced unprecedented external and internal pressure.

"The concert organizers tried to do their best until the last moment, but, according to them, they faced unprecedented external and internal pressure, and despite all their efforts, they could not resist it," Zakharova said.

The Prima ballerina also confirmed the cancellation of her performances in the Italian capital on March 20 and 21 and noted that the policy of abolishing Russian culture continues in Europe. She added that this was not the first time she had encountered something like this and stressed that her attitude towards the situation remained neutral.

On the same day, it became known that Zakharova's two performances, which she was supposed to give as part of the big gala concert of the stars of the world ballet Les Etoiles in Rome, were canceled. It was emphasized that the decision was made ostensibly to avoid the risks of misinterpretation of the entire festival.

Zakharova's performances in Italy have already been canceled on January 9th. At the end of the month, she was scheduled to give a concert in Florence at the Teatro del Maggio Musicale. Then representatives of the Ukrainian Embassy expressed their disagreement with the planned, and the invitation of the Russian woman was also canceled.
