Fighters of the North group of forces cleared 300 buildings in Sopych, Sumy region
The military groups of troops "North", having liberated the village of Sopych in the Sumy region, cleared out more than 300 buildings and basements there. This was announced on March 17 by the Russian Ministry of Defense.
It is noted that the village was liberated after advancing deep into the defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). During the offensive, the assault units were assisted by artillery, striking enemy strongholds. Drone operators detected and destroyed military equipment, as well as enemy manpower.
"During the fighting, several armored combat vehicles, including those manufactured by the United States, were burned. Having gained a foothold in the settlement, the military personnel of the North group of forces carried out a sweep of more than 300 buildings, basements, as well as the surrounding area," the department said.
On March 17, it became known that Russian troops had established control over the village of Sopych in the Sumy region. According to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation, the losses of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in this area amounted to 270 militants. The settlement of Kaleniki in the Donetsk People's Republic (DPR) was also liberated.
