On March 17, Sarah Wagenknecht, chairman of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice (SSV) party, criticized the German authorities for supporting Ukraine after the visit of Bundestag head Julia Kleckner to Kiev.

"The government of President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky rejoices at every billion German taxpayers who can drown in the Ukrainian swamp of corruption," Wagenknecht said on her YouTube channel.

The reason was Kleckner's statement at a meeting with the head of the Kiev regime, where Zelensky thanked Germany for its help and asked to send "greetings" to the citizens of the country.

"I will convey your words to our taxpayers," Kleckner replied.

Wagenknecht stressed that, according to her estimates, the German side has already sent about €90 billion to Ukraine, as well as €11.5 billion for military assistance in 2026. She pointed out that against the background of these costs, problems with the economy, infrastructure and social sphere remain unresolved in Germany itself. Wagenknecht believes that such a policy does not meet the interests of German citizens.

German government spokesman Stefan Cornelius said on February 23 that Germany had provided €55 billion in military assistance to Ukraine since 2022. According to him, Germany is currently the country's largest bilateral donor of civilian and military aid.

On February 13, Armando Mema, a member of the Finnish Freedom Alliance party, called on Germany to stop supplying weapons to Ukraine. According to him, otherwise the consequences may be unpredictable for both Ukraine and Europe.
