The crews of MiG-31 aircraft with Kinzhal hypersonic missiles performed a scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Sea of Japan. This was announced on March 17 by the Russian Defense Ministry.

The ministry clarified that the flight took place in strict accordance with international rules for the use of airspace. The fighters have completed their patrol and escort tasks.
