At least nine models of Chinese car brands have left Russia since the beginning of the year

At least nine models of Chinese car brands have left the Russian market since the beginning of 2026. This was reported on March 17 by RIA Novosti.

The Chery Tiggo 4 and Tiggo 7 Pro Max crossovers, the Bestune T77 and T55, the BAIC X35 and X7, the Jetour X50 and X70, and the GAC GS3 have disappeared from the websites of official distributors of Chinese brands in Russia.

According to Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, in the first two months of 2026, more than half of the new passenger cars imported into Russia (53%) fell on alternative supply channels. Almost three quarters came directly from China (32.7 thousand units), and the volume of shipments decreased by 23%.

The expert noted that many Chinese brands have seen a significant reduction in imports — for example, the import of Chery cars to the Russian Federation has come to naught. According to Autostat, the share of Chinese brands in the Russian market dropped to 40% in the first two months of 2026. The expert called the launch of production of Chinese models under Russian brands the main reason for the decline.

In February, Tenet replaced Chery, and Mazda and Toyota showed impressive growth in popularity.

In addition, as it became known on the same day, the company Evolute suspended the assembly of the electric crossover i-Jet in Russia. The price list for the i-Jet was removed from the brand's website, and there are no copies of the model in the "New cars in stock" section.
