The share of Chinese brands in the Russian market dropped to 40% in the first two months of 2026. For comparison, a year ago in January-March, this figure was 51.7%. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel.

"The main reason for the decline is the launch of production of Chinese models under Russian brands. Tenet took the largest share from Chery," the expert explained.

Among the regions, the market share of Chinese car brands varies from 15% (Kalmykia) to 62% (Kaliningrad Region). In the metropolitan regions, this indicator is higher than the average: in Moscow, Chinese cars account for 49% of the market, and in the Moscow region — 52%.

In St. Petersburg, the share of Chinese brands is also higher than half (51.4%), and in the Northwestern Federal District this figure reached 49.5%. The regions with the lowest share of Chinese brands in the market are Kalmykia (15%), Ingushetia (17%) and Kamchatka Krai (18%).

Lada Niva Travel has once again become the best-selling car in the SUV segment (crossovers and SUVs) on the Russian market, the model holds the lead for the second week in a row. As noted on March 16, a total of 20.4 thousand passenger cars were registered in Russia from March 9 to March 15, which is 10.5% less than a week earlier.
