Explosions in northeastern Nigeria have killed 23 people and injured 108 others. This was announced on March 17 by the Borno State police on their Facebook page (owned by Meta, recognized in Russia as an extremist organization and banned).

"The preliminary investigation shows that the incidents were committed by suspected suicide bombers. Unfortunately, a total of 23 people died, and 108 others were injured in various degrees of severity," the state police said in a statement.

They noted that on the evening of March 16, several explosions were heard in the city of Maiduguri. The police determined that the first explosion occurred at a post office in the city center, followed immediately by another at a nearby Monday fair. There was also a bang in the Maiduguri Hospital and another in a residential area in the east of the city.

On March 8, the Patriarchal Exarchate of Africa announced that two parishioners of the Russian Orthodox Church had been killed by terrorists in Nigeria. John Akule and Daniel Ahemba were members of the Orthodox community in the village of Turan. It is noted that the attack was carried out by Islamist terrorist groups operating in the country.
