Parents need to tell their children that going out on the ice in the spring is dangerous. This was announced on March 17 by Nina Mankovskaya, prevention instructor of the LizaAlert search and rescue team.

"One recommendation is that you can't go on ice. That's it. There should be no thickness definitions, no color definitions, no "tap around with a stick" — none of this should happen. And children should not be encouraged to try to help a drowning person or a drowning animal alone. It is not obvious to children that they will not be able to do this," Mankovskaya said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

Mankovskaya also added that children are often given the wrong recommendations. The memos that parents find on the Internet mention different thicknesses of "safe" ice, although in fact it does not exist.

"They (memos — Ed.) create a feeling in a child that he can determine the strength of this ice. The child can't do it, he's not capable of doing it. Even adults fall through the ice, they also can't tell just by looking at the ice how thick it is in this place," the expert clarified.

It clarifies that attackers can use the contact details of relatives of the missing to contact them under the guise of volunteers, private search engines or owners of valuable information about the missing person in order to deceive.
