The State Duma has launched an initiative on tax benefits for Russian scientists
The head of the Fair Russia faction in the State Duma, Sergei Mironov, has taken the initiative to exempt researchers from personal income tax for income earned in priority areas of scientific and technological development. This became known on March 17.
The relevant document is available to RIA Novosti. The bill was co-authored by Alexander Aksenenko, a member of the parliamentary faction of the SR.
"The draft law proposes to supplement Article 217 of Part Two of the Tax Code of the Russian Federation with a provision providing for exemption from personal income tax on income earned by scientists (researchers) in accordance with Article 4 of Federal Law No. 127-FZ of August 23, 1996 "On Science and State Scientific and Technical Policy" in the form of payments according to employment contracts and civil law contracts, the subject of which is the performance of works (provision of services) related to the implementation of scientific and (or) scientific and technical activities," the explanatory note to the draft says.
