- The ambassador pointed to the unprecedented unity of Iranian citizens after the death of Ali Khamenei.
The launch of the US and Israeli military operation against Iran and the assassination of the Supreme leader of the Islamic Republic, Ali Khamenei, led to an unprecedented consolidation of Iranian society. The Iranian Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, told Izvestia about this on March 17.
"After the start of the unjust aggression against us, as well as the assassination of our leader, society has rallied in a completely unprecedented way," he said.
It is noted that at the moment, Iranians have united around the country's new supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei.
Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi said on March 16 that the Islamic Republic does not intend to ask the United States for a temporary cease-fire or truce, it plans to fight to the end. He stressed that the representatives of the Iranian armed forces are fighting this proud struggle without internal resistance. According to him, this position does not mean that Tehran does not want a full settlement, it only plans to ensure that such attacks on its territory are not carried out in the future.
Jalali also said on March 12 that Iran was not abandoning dialogue with the American side, but it needed to fulfill a number of conditions, including the lifting of sanctions and compensation for damage to the republic. The diplomat noted that in order to start negotiations, it is first necessary to end the military conflict. At the same time, he stressed that Iran will resist "to the end."
