Avalanche danger declared in ten districts of Sakhalin

Avalanche danger has been declared in ten districts of the Sakhalin Region. The unfavorable situation will persist for two days.

According to SakhalinMedia news agency, avalanches are likely in Uglegorsky, Tomarinsky, Nevelsky, Smirnykhovsky, Makarovsky, Anivsky, Dolinsky, Alexandrovsk-Sakhalinsky, Kholmsky districts and Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk. The situation is under the control of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, forces and means are prepared to eliminate the possible consequences of snowfall.

The threat of avalanches will remain on March 17 and 18.

In February, an avalanche descended in the village of Arkhyz in Karachay-Cherkessia. Two houses and a car were covered with snow.
