Defender of the football club "Istanbul" Baran Alp Vardar died at the age of 20. The cause of death was cancer. This was announced by the Turkish team on March 15.

"We are deeply saddened by the loss of our dear Ram Alp Vardar, our football player, who has been undergoing cancer treatment for some time," the club wrote on its Facebook page (owned by Meta, recognized as extremist and banned in the Russian Federation).

It is noted that the representatives of Istanbul expressed their deep condolences over the early departure of the player, emphasizing his dedication to the team and high personal qualities. The farewell ceremony and funeral took place on March 15 in Istanbul.

Funeral services were held at the Beylikduzu Mevlana Mosque after the afternoon prayer service. Vardar played as a central defender. He has been in the structure of the Istanbul club since 2023.
