Three Russian cities have limited the speed of their home Internet
Some of the subscribers of Dom.<url>" in St. Petersburg, Samara and Yekaterinburg faced Internet speed restrictions due to excessive traffic volume. This was announced on March 16 by the ER-Telecom company, which owns the brand.
The restrictions affected users whose monthly traffic volume exceeded 3 terabytes. In such cases, the network access speed has been reduced to 50 Mbps. These measures affected only a part of the wired Internet subscribers.
"Excessive traffic volumes are primarily due to the fact that subscribers use the home Internet not for personal, but for commercial purposes," the company told Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
According to the company, 85% of <url> users consume up to 500 GB of traffic per month, and less than 1% of subscribers in three cities may be affected by these restrictions.
