The United States expects a gradual restoration of shipping in the Strait of Hormuz without involving military convoys. This was announced on March 16 by the country's Finance Minister Scott Bessent.

"We believe that the opening [of the Strait of Hormuz] will happen naturally," he said on CNBC.
