Spring road repairs have started in the Pskov region
Roads in the Pskov region have begun to be restored to a standard condition. This is one of the main tasks in the spring period, said the head of the district Natalia Fedorova in her social networks.
The length of roads in the district is more than 1300 km, of which more than 860 km are sandy—gravel roads. Most of them now require good drying due to waterlogging of the soil.
As Fedorova explained, after such a snowy winter, roads require close attention and a professional approach, the Pskov News Feed writes.
"In the current conditions, trying to remove the dimples and ruts with the help of large–tonnage special equipment, we can achieve a dubious result — to make the roadway completely unusable," the official said.
In areas with PGS where the soil has already dried out, contractors carry out grading. On paved roads, workers are engaged in sweeping and cleaning sand, which was used in winter for anti-ice treatment.
Earlier in March, it was reported that the Pskov authorities had increased the budget for road works by almost half compared to previous years. Pit repairs are already underway in the most emergency areas.
