Doctors at Blokhin Hospital assess the condition of blogger Lerchek (real name — Valeria Chekalin), who is fighting cancer, as moderate in severity. This was announced on March 16 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

"According to the discharge epicrisis (a medical report describing the patient's condition and prognosis for treatment. — Ed.), Chekalina is in a state of moderate severity," said Prosecutor Natalia Kuzmina.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Lercek was losing his eyesight and could go completely blind in one eye. The blogger's lawyer also clarified that the girl's serious illness prevents her from appearing in court.

On March 11, Chekalina began treatment at the state cancer Center. The next day, she was taken to a medical facility to begin a course of chemotherapy. Before that, on March 8, Lercek's lover Luis Squicciarini announced that she had cancer cells. In addition, she underwent spinal surgery due to the destruction of several vertebrae.

Lawyer Maxim Blinov told Izvestia on March 11 that the blogger could be released from punishment due to the presence of the disease. According to the lawyer, the court passes a verdict in any case, but if there are certain medical indications, the defendant may be released from punishment.

All important news is in the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
