Universities and colleges in Russia will increase the number of budget places in sought-after professions. This was announced on March 16 by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin at a meeting with deputy prime ministers.

"On behalf of the president, a list of professions has been approved for 300 training programs, including scientific specialties. <...> First of all, the number of budget places for them will increase," Mishustin said.

The approved list includes areas in the field of mathematics, natural sciences and humanities, such as computer science, biotechnical systems and technologies, nuclear energy, aviation and rocket engineering, robotics, medicine and pharmaceuticals.

Mishustin stressed that the development of these areas will contribute to achieving Russia's technological leadership and the successful implementation of national projects.

On February 25, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at the Future Technologies Forum that vocational education programs in Russia need to be updated, while focusing on students' practice in the field of biotechnology. The Head of State noted that the knowledge of graduates of many universities and colleges significantly lags behind the current level of biotechnology development.
