The Islamic Republic of Iran does not intend to ask the United States for a temporary cease-fire or truce, it plans to fight to the end. This was announced on Monday, March 16, by the head of the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Abbas Araqchi.

"We do not want a truce. <...> We have not sent any signals and are not asking for a cease—fire," he said, speaking at a press conference broadcast on the Telegram channel of the broadcaster SNN.

Araqchi stressed that the representatives of the Iranian armed forces are waging this proud struggle without internal resistance. According to him, this position does not mean that Tehran does not want a full settlement, it only plans to ensure that such attacks on its territory are not carried out in the future.

The Iranian Foreign Minister said on the same day that his country was ready to continue fighting until US President Donald Trump, whose military, in cooperation with the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), launched an operation against it, realized the error of the aggression. At the same time, he called "nonsense" statements about Tehran's lack of aspirations for negotiations. The Guardian newspaper yesterday pointed to the transfer of the initiative in the conflict from the United States to Iran.

The republic's Ambassador to Russia, Kazem Jalali, said on March 12 that Iran was not abandoning dialogue with the American side, but it needed to fulfill a number of conditions, including the lifting of sanctions and compensation for damage to the republic. The diplomat noted that in order to start negotiations, it is first necessary to end the military conflict. At the same time, he stressed that Iran will resist "to the end."
