Russia has approved a new GOST for quest rooms

Rosstandart has adopted a new GOST for quest rooms, which will enter into force in December 2026. On March 16, the press service of the department said that the purpose of this GOST is to improve the safety of leisure activities and reduce health risks for quest participants.

"The decision on the need to determine the requirements for the services of quest rooms was made due to the high popularity of such leisure activities as completing quests, an increase in the number of specialized organizations providing relevant services, as well as in connection with the increased incidence of harm to health (injury) of quest participants," Rosstandart said.

In particular, the standard prohibits the use of real shackles, nooses, garrotes and any rigid clamps. Instead, the organizers are required to use only imitation and quick-release elements. The noise level is also strictly regulated: the volume of the soundtrack cannot exceed 100 decibels, and at the request of the player, the organizer is obliged to reduce it.

The GUEST pays special attention to the technical equipment of the premises. Quest doors should only be closed on devices that open from the inside without a key. Exit signs should be visible and have emergency power, and the voltage in the electrical circuits available to players should be between 12 and 24 volts. In addition, it is forbidden to use smoke effects without a safety data sheet and the presence of bare wires.

"The national standard developed by Rosstandart regulates the requirements for the exclusion of security violations as much as possible and will ensure an increase in the level of all types of security for both entertainment participants and service providers," Rosstandart emphasized to RIA Novosti.

On March 4, Rosstandart approved a new interstate standard for nail services, which will become effective in Russia on April 30, 2026. It has developed maps for a variety of services, including manicures, pedicures, hand and foot skin care, as well as strengthening and modeling artificial nails, decorative coating and removal of materials.
