Tokayev noted the record high turnout at the constitutional referendum in Kazakhstan
A record turnout was recorded in the completed referendum on the new Constitution in Kazakhstan. This was announced on March 16 by the President of the Republic Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
"A record high turnout was registered. I thank everyone who came to the polling stations and clearly expressed their civic position. Thus, we showed the whole world the political culture of our Kazakh society," Tokayev is quoted as saying on the president's official website.
The Head of State noted that the final results of the referendum will be announced by the central commission of the referendum in accordance with the law in an official manner.
The vote for the adoption of the new Constitution was held on March 15, and its final text was published on February 12.
Tokayev voted in a referendum on the new Constitution of the republic on March 15. He came to the polling station in the Schoolchildren's Palace in Astana. After the vote, he held a briefing for journalists, where he stressed the crucial importance of the referendum for the future development of the state.
Mukhtar Yerman, Deputy Chairman of the Central Referendum Commission, announced later that day that the voting had ended. The turnout at 20:00 local time (18:00 Moscow time) was 73.24%.
Online publication Zakon.kz On March 15, referring to the research results of the Institute of Eurasian Integration, it was reported that more than 86% of the surveyed citizens of Kazakhstan voted for the draft of the new Constitution. It is specified that the exit poll was conducted in 200 polling stations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, about 30 thousand participants took part in it.
