On March 16, Kirill Dmitriev, head of the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) and special representative of the President of the Russian Federation for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, allowed oil prices to rise above $150 per barrel in the coming weeks.

"Now the price looks like it will rise to $150 and above in the next 2-3 weeks, as disruptions affect not only logistics, but also production itself," he said in a post on X (ex. Twitter).

In this way, Dmitriev reacted to an article in the Wall Street Journal (WSJ) newspaper, which states that the heads of oil companies from the United States warned the state authorities about the possible aggravation of the energy crisis related to the conflict in Iran.

Alexander Baryshnikov, the manager of the Mining fund at Record Capital Management Company, told Izvestia on March 12 that if the current level of tension in the Middle East persists, oil may trade in the range of $95-115 per barrel in the coming weeks. At the same time, further price increases will be possible only in the event of a significant deterioration in the situation in the region.

All important news is on the Izvestia channel in the MAX messenger.
