French leader Emmanuel Macron announced on March 16 that he had held talks with Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian.

"I recently had a conversation with Masoud Pezekian, a representative of the Islamic Republic of Iran. I called on him to immediately stop the unacceptable attacks <...> on the countries of the region," he said in a message on Twitter (ex. Twitter).

In addition, Macron stated the need to restore navigation in the Strait of Hormuz as soon as possible.

The Axios portal reported on March 13 that the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7) countries appealed to American leader Donald Trump to end the military operation against Iran as soon as possible amid huge economic losses due to restrictions on shipping in the Strait of Hormuz. According to the newspaper, the leaders of the G7 countries held telephone talks with their American counterpart on March 11, noting that cargo transportation routes through the strait should be "protected as soon as possible."
