86.7% of voters voted for the new draft Constitution of Kazakhstan
More than 86% of the surveyed citizens of Kazakhstan voted for the draft of the new constitution. This was reported on March 15 by the online publication Zakon.kz with reference to the research results of the Institute of Eurasian Integration.
"86.7% of the surveyed citizens supported the adoption of the new Constitution," the publication says.
It is specified that the exit poll (a survey near polling stations) was conducted in 200 polling stations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, about 30 thousand participants took part in it. The sociological margin of error is no more than 1%.
Later it became known that, according to the exit poll of the Institute of Public Policy of the ruling AMANAT party, the level of support for the new constitution was even higher: 88.6% of citizens supported its adoption.
On March 15, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev voted in a referendum on the new Constitution of the republic. He came to the polling station in the Schoolchildren's Palace in Astana. After the vote, he held a briefing for journalists, where he stressed the crucial importance of the referendum for the future development of the state.
Mukhtar Yerman, Deputy Chairman of the Central Referendum Commission, announced later that day that the voting had ended. The turnout at 20:00 local time (18:00 Moscow time) was 73.24%.
