- The Language Ombudsman complained about the easy assimilation of Russian by Ukrainians
On March 15, the Language Ombudsman of Ukraine, Elena Ivanovskaya, designated Russian as the language of power and arrogance.
"Neuro-linguists should explore the very structure and specifics of this language. Because, for example, have you noticed a pattern that we really learn Russian easily? <...> This is because Russian is the language of power," the newspaper Strana quotes her as saying.ua" in his Telegram channel.
According to her, when Russian-speaking families move to Lviv, the situation with the language of communication does not go in favor of Ukrainian. Often, locals themselves begin to communicate in Russian.
The Language Ombudsman explained this by saying that Russian, in her opinion, is perceived as the "language of power." Ivanovskaya claims that Russian-speaking children in new groups often behave with "impudence and the language of force," setting the tone for communication.
On March 13, a woman who came to the Odessa Opera House began to swear loudly from the balcony in the auditorium, having heard a speech in Russian from the stage. The woman loudly expressed her displeasure in Ukrainian, noting that she had paid for the ticket, but she did not enjoy the sight. At the same time, the resident of the city switched to Russian herself in her speech.
