The Moldovan government has declared an alert due to pollution of the Dniester River caused by a fuel leak in Ukraine. This was announced on March 15 in the Telegram channel of the Government of the republic.

"The pollution wave continues to move downstream, and in the area of Naslavtsea — Soroka, excess permissible values of petroleum products and aromatic hydrocarbons in the water are recorded," the report says.

It is noted that the alert mode has been introduced for 15 days, which will allow temporary restrictions on the intake and use of water in areas where tests have shown exceeding the permissible values of pollutants. This is necessary to prevent contamination of water supply systems. The alert mode will also allow for the rapid mobilization of additional resources, including the use of property from state reserves.

On March 12, the Moldovan government's press service reported that oil from Ukraine continues to pollute the Dniester River. It was clarified that in this regard, residents of the northern regions of Moldova cannot use water from the river for domestic needs.

Later, on March 14, it was reported that the Moldovan authorities announced a temporary shutdown of water supply in four regions of the country due to the leakage of petroleum products into the Dniester River. The country's authorities recommend that local residents create drinking water supplies in advance.
