Members of the royal family and celebrities are being warned by their representatives and advisers to watch what they say when they are away from home or the palace due to the development of lip-reading technology. This was reported by The Guardian on March 15.

This expert advice came about after Prince William was embroiled in a scandal over a video of him talking to his uncle Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, which was translated by a lip-reading expert. The video, according to a lip reader, allegedly shows Mountbatten-Windsor trying to apologize to his nephew, who rejects him.

Mountbatten-Windsor is alleged to have said, "I have learned a lesson from what I have done, but before closing this story, I would like to ask you if you can forgive me."

According to a source close to the royal family, the spread of lip-reading technology has caused great irritation in the royal household.

"Like many high—ranking officials, members of the royal family are aware of the unfortunate and growing trend of using lip readers with varying degrees of inaccuracy to listen to conversations that anyone has the right to consider private," the source said on condition of anonymity.

According to Dickie Arbiter, the former press secretary of Queen Elizabeth II, members of the royal family are warned that they "should not speak out at inappropriate moments, which can be recorded by television cameras or members of the public using a mobile phone."

On February 23, members of the British Parliament called for increased monitoring of the activities of the royal family and its role in representing Britain abroad amid the arrest of former British Prince Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor as part of an investigation into his ties with American financier Jeffrey Epstein. It was clarified that earlier members of parliament were fined or punished for talking and proposing changes in their attitude towards the monarchy.

Sky News channel reported on February 21 that the British government intends to exclude ex-Prince Andrew from the line of succession. However, in order to approve such a decision, it is necessary to consult with other States that are members of the Commonwealth of Nations. In addition, on February 20, it was noted that more than 80% of UK residents consider it necessary to exclude Prince Andrew from the line of succession after the scandal involving financier Jeffrey Epstein.
