Russian skier Ivan Golubkov shared his emotions about the honor of becoming the flag bearer of the Russian national team at the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Games. He told reporters about it.

"I would have gone to the closing anyway, because this is my first time at the Paralympic Games. We didn't go to the opening, but you need to be at the closing to experience everything live," the athlete told TASS.

The skier noted that he was glad to have the opportunity to become a flag bearer and thanked the organizers for this opportunity.

Golubkov won the 20 km split start race at the Paralympic Games in Italy on March 15. He showed a result of 51 minutes 55.0 seconds. Golubkov competes in the LW11.5 category, where athletes with significant leg impairments compete.

This victory was Golubkov's second at the current Games, having previously won gold in the 10 km race with a split start.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 10 that the successes of Russian athletes at the Games in Italy are a reason for pride for the whole of Russia.
