Skier Golubkov brought the Russian national team the sixth gold of the Paralympics

On March 15, Russian skier Ivan Golubkov won the 20 km split start race at the Paralympic Games in Italy.

A 30-year-old Russian is competing in class LW11.5 (lower extremities and trunk injury). He covered the distance in 51 minutes and 55.0 seconds. The second place was taken by Chinese Mao Zhong (50.8 seconds behind), the bronze medalist was Italian Giuseppe Romele (+1.22,1).

This victory was Golubkov's second at the current Games, having previously won gold in the 10 km race with a split start. The athlete is also a five-time World Cup winner and a four-time world champion in cross-country skiing, as well as a two-time world champion in biathlon.

This was the sixth gold medal for the Russian national team at the Milan and Cortina d'Ampezzo Paralympics. In total, the Russian team has won one silver and three bronze medals.

The day before, Russian skiers Ivan Golubkov and Anastasia Baghiyan took sixth place in the mixed relay at the Paralympic Games in Italy. The athletes covered a distance of 4x2.5 km in 24 minutes and 40.2 seconds.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on March 10 that the successes of Russian athletes at the Games in Italy are a reason for pride for the whole of Russia.
