British actor John Alford (real name — Shannon), convicted of raping two teenage girls, died in prison at HMP Bure. This was reported on March 15 by The Guardian newspaper.

"John Shannon died in prison on March 13, 2026," the newspaper quoted a representative of the correctional institution as saying.

The actor died two months after being sentenced to eight and a half years in prison. The jury found him guilty on charges of sexual assault and violent acts against girls aged 14 and 15. The investigation reported that the crime was committed at a party at his friend's place.

The circumstances of the actor's death are not specified. The Ombudsman for Prisoners will conduct an investigation to determine the reasons.

Alford played the role of Robbie Wright in the series "Grange Hill" about the life of schoolchildren in London and Billy Ray in the series "London is Burning" about London firefighters.

On March 14, a court in Florida sentenced three men in the case of the brutal murder of a 17-year-old schoolgirl, two of whom will serve life sentences. The incident occurred in 2023. It is specified that the man's cousin and another person went to the case. They came to the schoolgirl's house, wounded her mother and sister with small arms, and also killed the girl herself.
