Iranian saffron has become less available on Russian markets due to the situation in the Middle East. Elizaveta Fedoseeva, the founder of the spice production company Sphere, told Izvestia about this on March 14.

"His (saffron. — Ed.) it has become less, and in any case it is getting more expensive," she said.

The expert added that saffron prices depend on logistics routes. According to her, Russia is developing its own spice production, it is grown in the Crimea. In addition, Fedoseeva added that all companies now have reserves of saffron.

The Washington Post columnist David Lynch reported on March 8 that the military conflict over Iran is already putting significant pressure on the global economy, affecting transport, supply chains and financial markets, not just the energy sector. According to logistics companies, transportation through the Persian Gulf region has been disrupted due to missile and drone attacks.
