The expert spoke about the rise in price of saffron in Russia due to the war in Iran
Due to the escalation of the situation in the Middle East, saffron, which is supplied from Iran, has become more expensive in Russia. Elizaveta Fedoseeva, the founder of the spice production company Sphere, told Izvestia about this on March 14.
"His (saffron. — Ed.) it has become smaller and in any case it is getting more expensive," she said.
Fedoseeva stressed that the prices of imported spices strongly depend on logistics routes. Also, according to her, the volume of saffron supplies from Iran to Russia has decreased due to the aggravation of the situation in the Middle East.
The interlocutor of Izvestia added that Crimea is currently developing its own saffron production. She noted that in the future, domestically produced spices will be cheaper than imported ones.
The Washington Post columnist David Lynch reported on March 8 that the military conflict over Iran is already putting significant pressure on the global economy, affecting transport, supply chains and financial markets, not just the energy sector. According to logistics companies, transportation through the Persian Gulf region has been disrupted due to missile and drone attacks.
