US President Donald Trump said that a number of countries plan to send warships to ensure the safety of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz. He announced this on March 14 on the TruthSocial social network.

"Many countries, especially those affected by Iran's closure of the Strait of Hormuz, will send warships in coordination with the United States to open the strait and ensure its security," Trump wrote.

He also called on Britain, China, South Korea, France and Japan to support this effort.

Trump added that the United States would continue to strike Iran's coastline.

The press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on March 11 that Iran would not allow any oil tankers related to the United States and its allies to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 9 that oil production, which is tied to the Strait of Hormuz, risks stopping completely in the coming month.
