British guitarist Philip Anthony Campbell, who gained fame through his participation in the heavy metal band Motörhead, has died at the age of 65. The death of the musician was announced by the band Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons, which includes his sons.

"It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved father, Philip Anthony Campbell, who died peacefully last night after a long and courageous struggle in intensive care after a difficult operation," the group said in a statement on Instagram (owned by Meta, which is recognized in Russia as extremist and banned).

Campbell joined Mötörhead in 1986 and remained with the band until its dissolution in 2015 after the death of the band's frontman Lemmy Kilmister. In 2005, the musician became a Grammy Award winner.

During his career, Phil Campbell participated in the recording of several Motörhead studio albums, including Orgasmatron, Rock 'n' Roll and Inferno. After the end of the Motörhead era, he founded his own project Phil Campbell And The Bastard Sons, continuing to perform and record new music. The place and time of the farewell will be announced later.
