In Moldova, four districts were left without water after a fuel leak in Ukraine
On March 14, Moldovan authorities announced a temporary shutdown of water supply in four regions of the country due to a leak of petroleum products into the Dniester River, which occurred in the Chernivtsi region of Ukraine near the Dniester hydroelectric power station.
"In the coming hours, the water supply will be temporarily stopped in [the village]. Naslavche and in the districts of Soroka, Balti, Floresti, Syngere," the authorities informed in their Telegram channel.
The country's authorities recommend that local residents create drinking water supplies in advance.
Currently, the environmental services of Moldova, Ukraine and Romania are working together to eliminate the pollution spot.
On March 12, the Moldovan government's press service reported that oil from Ukraine continues to pollute the Dniester River. It was clarified that in this regard, residents of the northern regions of Moldova cannot use water from the river for domestic needs.
