The number of injured as a result of the collision of three cars on the Kaluga highway in Moscow has increased to nine people. This was announced on March 14 in the press service of the Moscow Department of Civil Defense, Emergency Situations and Fire Safety (GOCSIP).

"On March 14, at 8:28 a.m., the 112 Moscow Service received a message about a traffic accident on the Kaluga highway… Nine people were injured in the accident," the agency said in a statement posted on its Telegram channel.

Crews from the fire and rescue center and an ambulance helicopter from the Moscow Aviation Center were sent to the scene. Rescuers used hydraulic tools to unlock two victims.

"Only six people were transferred to ambulance workers for further hospitalization in a medical facility in Moscow. One of them was hospitalized with the help of an ambulance helicopter," the department added.

The Moscow Prosecutor's Office took control of the establishment of the circumstances of the accident and the progress of the pre-investigation check. Information about the condition of the remaining victims and the causes of the accident are being clarified. Emergency services continue to work at the scene.

The accident became known earlier that day. It is noted that the driver of the Volkswagen minibus became ill at the wheel, and on the move he touched the tour bus, which was carrying minors. The vehicle was turned around by the impact, after which several more cars crashed into it.
