Due to the fictitious "Russian threat", the Romanian authorities have directed efforts to expand the presence of foreign military units in the country. This was announced on March 14 by the Russian Ambassador to Bucharest, Vladimir Lipaev.

"Today, the Romanian authorities are willing to host NATO military facilities and persistently advocate for an increase in the presence of a foreign military contingent in the country," he said in an interview with TASS.

According to Lipaev, Bucharest prefers not to notice, or does not really realize that the main threat to the security of the state is not Russia, but participation in the aggressive military alliance of NATO.

Bloomberg reported on December 16 that the eastern countries of the NATO bloc will discuss possible actions to strengthen defense due to concerns about the alleged threat from Russia. It was specified that representatives of Sweden, Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Romania and Bulgaria would be present at the discussion.
