The crews of the mobile firing groups told about their work in the Kursk region
The mobile groups of the BARS volunteer brigade, which is part of the North group of forces in the Kursk region, perform a range of security tasks in the border areas. This was announced on March 14 by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.
The units operate both in the rear and on the front line, with peak combat mission activity at night. According to intelligence data, the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are carrying out airstrikes and attacks by unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) from Sumy and Kharkiv regions.
"We are working on shooting down enemy UAVs. We are moving to an approximate position. <...> We are given coordinates, and we know where to go, plus or minus. We are leaving and staying there until further instructions," said the commander of the vehicle, a MOG with the call sign Sokol.
Mobile groups of three military personnel, staffed by volunteers from the local militia (now contract soldiers of the BARS-Kursk brigade), specialize in combating enemy drones and fire support for border guards. Domestic communications facilities are used for communication and coordination, ensuring reliable interaction with command and intelligence in all conditions.
"We don't go too far so that we can hear each other, talk, and not interfere with each other. When the "bird" arrives, we already coordinate with each other," the machine gunner MOG with the call sign Blogger shared the specifics of the interaction of machine gunners during combat work.
On March 12, the Ministry of Defense reported that crews of Hyacinth-S self-propelled guns of the 25th combined arms army of the Zapad group of forces, while performing firing missions, destroyed camouflaged positions with manpower and communications facilities of the UAV control points of the Armed Forces units in the area of the SVO in the Krasnolimansk direction.
