Attackers use deceptive calls to force Russians to urgently disclose their income under the guise of a request from the Federal Tax Service (FTS). This was reported by RIA Novosti on March 14.

It clarifies that the fraudster calls the victim and claims that her employer did not file or incorrectly submitted information about her last year's income to the tax service. Under the pretext of an urgent need, the attacker insists that the victim immediately take the 3-personal income tax declaration to the nearest tax office.

Then he suggests making an appointment, naming convenient time slots. After that, the victim receives a fake confirmation of the recording by mail, with instructions not to disclose the received data. In the end, the scammer simulates transferring a call to an answering machine that requests a text message code.

On March 11, the UBK of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia warned that fraudsters began sending emails with QR codes under the guise of the Federal Tax Service. Citizens receive notifications about unpaid taxes or arrears, which suggest that they quickly solve the problem by clicking on the QR code for payment. The Interior Ministry recommended checking information only through a personal account on the official website of the Federal Tax Service, not following QR codes from letters from unknown senders and not entering personal data on unverified pages.
