It became known about the absence of parachutes in the crashed US Air Force plane.
The American KC-135 tanker aircraft that crashed in western Iraq was not equipped with parachutes or an ejection system. This was reported on March 14 by RIA Novosti, citing materials from the US Air Force.
It is clarified that initially the aircraft was equipped with parachutes, but in 2008 the US Air Force abandoned their use. This decision is due to the fact that it is extremely difficult to successfully leave such an aircraft with a parachute.
According to the materials of the US Air Force, there has never been an ejection system on aircraft of this class, since there is no possibility of installing such a system.
The crash of a KC-135 tanker aircraft of the US Armed Forces in Iraq was reported earlier in the day. CENTCOM stressed that the loss of the aircraft was not caused by enemy or friendly fire. Later it became known that all six crew members died in the crash.
