Hungary does not dance under the arm of Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky, unlike the Baltic states, and also "will not succumb to the blackmail" of the president of Ukraine. This was stated on March 13 by Hungarian Foreign Minister Peter Szijjarto, commenting on the criticism of Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budris.

"The Lithuanian Foreign Minister managed to declare that he would be ashamed to live in a country that buys cheap Russian oil. <...> A colleague misunderstood the situation! The Baltic states have long been playing into Zelensky's hands, jumping to his tune," he said in a Facebook post (owned by Meta, which is recognized as extremist in Russia).

According to Szijjarto, no one has the right to tell Hungary which oil to buy. He noted that the Hungarian side resists Zelensky's blackmail and defends its sovereignty.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said on March 7 that he had received a threatening message from Zelensky and considered them addressed to the whole of Hungary. The prime minister added that Hungary always strives for peace, and called on Ukraine to stop blackmail and the oil blockade, as well as to ensure oil supplies to the country.

Szijjarto said on March 5 that Zelensky's threats against Orban were a good example of Ukrainian "culture." He also rejected attempts to threaten Hungary for the country's refusal to finance the Kiev regime.
