Macron pointed to the immutability of France's position on sanctions against Russia.
The situation on the oil market will in no way affect France's position on sanctions against Russia. This was stated on March 13 by French President Emmanuel Macron at a joint press conference with Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.
"The context of rising oil prices [due to the escalation of the conflict in the Middle East] should in no case lead to a revision of our position on sanctions against Russia. This position was taken by the G7 and this, of course, is the position of France and Europe," Le Monde newspaper quoted Macron as saying.
