Iran can control the Strait of Hormuz for several months due to its superiority in missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as well as its convenient geographical location. Retired American military analyst Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen told about this on Friday, March 13.

"Iran has an advantage — it can use its small speedboats, artillery, as well as drones, missiles and weapons. In fact, they decide who to let through it and who not," the military analyst said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

According to Rasmussen, the United States will have to take drastic measures, otherwise Iran will continue to control the situation.

Earlier, on March 12, the Indian NDTV channel reported that the Iranian authorities had given permission to Indian-flagged tankers to pass through the Strait of Hormuz.

It is noted that the relevant agreement was reached during the negotiations between the Foreign ministers of Iran and India. After the meeting, two Indian tankers Pushpak and Parimal successfully passed through the strait. 360.ru .

The press service of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced on March 11 that Iran would not allow any oil tankers related to the United States and its allies to pass through the Strait of Hormuz. The IRGC also reported that an Israeli-owned ship flying the Liberian flag was attacked in the morning after ignoring warnings. Later, the container ship Mayuree Naree, which also tried to illegally pass through the strait, came under fire.

Russian President Vladimir Putin said on March 9 that oil production, which is tied to the Strait of Hormuz, risks stopping completely in the coming month, NSN reports. The Russian leader noted that the storage facilities in the region are already being filled with oil that cannot be exported, and the route itself is actually closed.
