The head of the Pentagon, Pete Hegseth, said that the US military is aware of the injury of the new supreme Ayatollah of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei. He stated this on March 13, his words are quoted by the BBC.

"We know that the new, so—called, not very supreme leader is injured and probably disfigured," Hegseth said.

Answering a question about the new Ayatollah's address to the nation on March 12, the head of the Pentagon suggested that the failure of the country's supreme leader to appear in either video or audio format was due to the fact that Khamenei was allegedly "scared, wounded and lacks legitimacy."

The new supreme leader of Iran, Mojtaba Khamenei, delivered his first address to the nation after taking office on March 12. The text of the appeal was read out in a female voice and broadcast on television. In his speech, the new ayatollah promised not to give up revenge for the blood of the martyrs, stressing that it was not only about the death of the previous leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.
